Welcome to the Eco Council page! The Eco Council are made up of children from Reception class all the way to Year 6. We work hard to try and make Y Bont Faen Primary School even more Eco Friendly.

Eco News October 2019

Our Environmental review is underway! Our Eco crew will be looking around the school and the grounds – talking to children and staff to get a clear view of the current environmental state of the whole school. It will help identify where improvements can be made and will be the main tool to help the Eco Committee decide which topics should be part of their action plan.

Previous achievements – 2018/19 committee

• We launched an ‘Eco Slogan’ competition to design a new slogan for the school.  Well done to Jessie, from Reception, who won with the fantastic slogan: Y Bont Faen is eco great, save the planet it’s not too late‘
• In our recent ‘Rags to Riches’ collection we raised an amazing £129.30!
• We have decided to spend the money that we have raised to create a Bee Village in our Forest School.
• We asked the Vale to change the way they gave us milk bottles for the infants.  Rather than using small plastic bottles every day, we are now using 2l plastic milk bottles – this has reduced the amount of plastic we use.
• Some of the Eco Council and children from Year 4 and 6 are working hard to create a Harry Potter themed decorated wheelbarrow, to exhibit at the Royal Welsh Show.
